This is the first of three songs I recorded with my band "Brotherhood of Sleep" featuring 3 of my dearest friends and among the most talented musicians I've had the honor to perform with: Bailey Jaramillo, Carm Sciarrotta, and David Thomas. Sadly, Bailey passed in 2019 and Carm passed in 2021. Their memory lives on through their music and I miss them every time I hear these songs. I also had the great honor to record and produce these songs under the masterful work of Eric Larson who passed in 2005. I have been truly blessed to have collaborated with these wonderful people.
This song was inspired by an early part of a lifelong journey to "know thyself." Still working on it...I love everything about this song. Carm's drums were so moving, Bailey's guitar gave it the edge I was shooting for, and David's bass playing is some of my favorite of all time. The lady who sings with me sounds fantastic. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name! (Rachael maybe?) Whoever you are, thank you, I still love your voice!
